Schools Out at Camp Frequently Asked Questions

Can my child bring his Gameboy, or other electronics to the program?
We have a full day of planned, exciting activities for your child while at School's Out at Camp. As in school, electronics, CDs and other expensive personal items should stay at home. They can be easily lost or broken and often are a distraction that get in the way of having a good time and making friends here at Camp.

Do the children go outside even in the snow? What should they wear?
Be sure that your child comes prepared for all outdoor weather and activities. Boots, gloves, extra socks etc. are musts in the winter and bathing suits and towels are needed for in the summer. We build snowmen in the winter and go boating and swimming when it's warm. Many of our activities require us walking to other locations, (sometimes in the rain!), so always send your child prepared for being outside and being active no matter what the weather. Sending your child with a change of clothes is always a good idea for any season.

Should I send breakfast, lunch or snack for my child?
We serve breakfast to all children arriving before 8:00am as well as lunch and a snack in the afternoon, at no additional fee. We serve a variety of foods for breakfast and lunch, and we always have peanut butter and jelly and a salad bar available in addition to the main course. Please notify us in advance of any special dietary health needs.

My child is required to take a prescription drug. What procedures do I need to adhere to?
We prefer to have children take any needed medicine before coming to the program. If absolutely necessary to have medicine administered please follow the following procedure: Be sure to write the medication needed on the Health Form. (Health forms are mailed with Registration forms, or both can be downloaded (see below). Be sure that the medication is carefully packaged and has the original pharmacy label attached with the child's name, doctor's name, name of medicine, and dosage required. Give the medication to the Site Supervisor on duty at School's Out at Camp and complete a Medication Permission Slip at time of drop off. Please make sure that the Site Supervisor is aware of any special needs regarding the medication.

How are the children grouped?
Children are placed in groups according to their age.

What constitutes a School's Out Member and a Non School's Out Member?
A School's Out Member is a child that is presently registered in a School's Out Program for the current school year. Children not currently registered in a School's Out program are non-members, but are welcome to participate.
