CAMP OCKANICKON
Campers | Rangers | LIT/CIT | Equestrian | Schedules | FAQ's

Going away to summer camp can be an irreplaceable part of a boy’s journey toward independence. Living in a rustic cabin with boys his own age to learn cooperation and build new friendships; having a counselor that is more of a role model than an authority figure; learning new skills that build confidence and a healthy lifestyle; all combining into memories that will last a lifetime. Ockanickon Campers develop a sense of accomplishment during their time away at camp that can have a great impact on their self-esteem once they go home at the end of their session. These positive outcomes come from what they experience in their daily routine at camp and from our counselors modeling for the campers how to live peacefully with each other in our small community. Compromise, fair play, sharing, and looking out for each other is a big part of the camp experience.

Ocky Boys accomplish this personal growth through activities designed to challenge them and allow them to develop new skills.  They spend their days swimming and canoeing on Lake Stockwell, enjoying a game of basketball with their new friends, improving their shooting on the archery range, or learning about the plants and animals of the Pine Barrens at Earth Education.  They might also choose to write for the camp newspaper, learn how to play touch rugby, or go fishing for bass in the lake (don’t forget to bring your rod)!  Whether it is an intense game of Ultimate Frisbee or a relaxing period composing a masterpiece at Creative Arts, every day is an adventure at Camp Ockanickon!
